Biostatistics I: Essentials of Biostatistics
Description
Introduces the fundamental concepts of summarizing data and statistical inference, including graphical displays, hypothesis testing, p-values, and confidence intervals. Specific topics include comparisons of means and proportions, non-parametric tests, sample size determination, power calculations, and analysis of variance and covariance. Additional topics include a brief introduction to linear regression, logistic regression, and analysis of time-to-event data. Examples are given using STATA and R statistical software, and students will be taught how to interpret output from STATA and R. Prior knowledge of STATA and R is not a prerequisite.
Prerequisite(s): Admission to the Community Health Sciences graduate program or Public Health and Preventative Medicine program.
Antirequisite(s): Credit for Community Health Sciences 610 and either Medical Science 643.01 or Veterinary Medicine 610 will not be allowed.
